ELIZABETH FUKALA With sadness, the family of Elizabeth (Ela) Fukala announce her passage on October 2, 2009, she was 91 years old. She is survived by her daughters Jolanta (Kazimierz) Czaplinski, Danuta (Zbigniew Ruszkowski) Migon, her grandchildren Dorothy (Bruno) Munduruca and Peter and Emily Czaplinski and Alexander Migon and her recently born great-grandchild Rickson Munduruca. Elizabeth emigrated from Poland in October 1989. While in Poland, she worked as an accountant for a forestry company, until retirement. Subsequently she decided to join her children in Canada. Despite the hardship related to immigrating in old age she was always very positive, hopeful and supportive to her daughters and grandchildren. Her priorities were to protect her grandchildren and equip them with all the best from Polish national traditions. She had a quiet elegance about her, and this memory will live on in all who knew her. She loved music and through singing she emanated her inner peace, which had quite a healing influence on her environment. Elizabeth will be sorely missed by her family members and friends. We appreciate and thank everyone who shared our sorrow, and offered condolences, both in the St. Boniface General Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre and elsewhere. The funeral ceremony will be held in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7 with a small reception to follow.
